Chlorogenic acid is a phenylpropanoid compound produced by plants in the process of aerobic respiration through the shikimic acid pathway. It is a caffeic acid quinic acid derivative and has strong antioxidant activity. It also has the functions of anti HIV, anti-tumor cells, antibacterial, enhancing central excitation, gallbladder, teratogenicity, anti allergy and regulating cytochrome P450 ligase activity.
