What do you know about the application of tannic acid? Tannic acid is not a single compound, and its chemical composition is relatively complex. It can be roughly divided into two types:
1. Condensed tannic acid is a flavanol derivative. The 2 positions of flavanol in the molecule are combined with catechol or pyrogallol through carbon carbon bond;
2. Hydrolyzable tannic acid, with ester bond in the molecule, is the gallate of glucose.
The latter is commonly used tannic acid, which can be used for tanning, ink manufacturing, paper and silk gluing, boiler descaling, etc. it can also be used as mordant, clarifier of beer and wine, coagulant of rubber, etc. Tannic acid has low toxicity.
