1、 Introduction to puerarin
Puerarin, also known as puerarin flavone, is a natural isoflavone carboglycoside, which is the key component of puerarin to exert its efficacy. Puerarin has the functions of lowering blood glucose, regulating blood lipid, protecting blood vessels, anti oxidative stress, anti infection, improving insulin sensitivity index, etc., and has less adverse reactions. It is known as “phytoestrogen”, and is clinically used to treat cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, cancer, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes and diabetes complications.
2、 Effect of Puerarin
Puerarin was injected into the coronary artery of anesthetized dogs, which showed that it could increase cerebral blood flow and reduce vascular resistance. Puerarin can also protect myocardial ischemia caused by neurohypophysin. Both in vivo and in vitro experiments show that puerarin can produce competitive effects on rabbit arterial smooth muscle and airway smooth muscle β- Receptor antagonism. Puerarin can reduce the blood pressure and heart rate of spontaneously hypertensive rats, but it has little effect on normal Wistar rats. Puerarin can inhibit the anti tetrodotoxin Na current of central neurons of rat spinal nerve roots (tetrodotoxin is a sodium channel specific blocker, which can block the inward Na current), has the neuroprotective effect of anti cerebral ischemia, and improves cerebral blood flow by expanding intracranial arteries. This effect is dose-dependent. Puerarin can also reduce blood pressure, especially renal hypertension.
