Ecdysterone:Potential and challenges of aquatic animal protection products

Ecdysterone is an important bioactive compound that has a positive effect on the growth and health of aquatic animals. The origin, chemical structure, physiological function and application of ecdysterone in the development of aquatic animal protection products were discussed in this paper.By reviewing the relevant literature, the advantages and disadvantages of ecdysterone in aquaculture will be analyzed, and the future research direction will be prospected.

Ecdysterone

Introduction:

Ecdysterone is a bioactive substance secreted by insects and arthropods, which has various physiological functions such as promoting growth and development, inducing metamorphosis, and improving immunity 1].In aquaculture, ecdysterone can promote the growth and development of aquatic animals, improve their resistance to disease and ability to adapt to the environment, and has important application value. The purpose of this paper is to explore the application of ecdysterone in the development of aquatic animal protection products,in order to provide useful reference for the sustainable development of aquaculture industry.

Literature review:

In recent years, the application of ecdysterone in the development of aquatic animal protection products has attracted wide attention.Studies have shown that ecdysterone can significantly improve the growth rate and disease resistance of aquatic animals. For example,Chen Ping et al.2]added molting hormone to tilapia culture, and found that the growth rate of tilapia in the experimental group increased by 30%,and the incidence rate was significantly reduced. However, there are still some problems in the application of ecdysterone in aquaculture, such as the use of dosage is difficult to master,long-term use may cause side effects.

Application prospect:

Ecdysterone has a broad application prospect in the development of aquatic animal protection products.First of all, ecdysterone can promote the growth and development of aquatic animals, improve their yield and quality, and is conducive to improving the economic benefits of aquaculture.Secondly, ecdysterone can enhance the disease resistance of aquatic animals, reduce the incidence rate, and help ensure the food safety of aquatic products. In addition, ecdysterone can also be used in combination with other aquatic animal protection products to further improve the effect of aquaculture.

However, there are still some challenges in the application of ecdysterone in aquaculture.First of all,the dosage of ecdysterone is difficult to master, and excessive use may have side effects on aquatic animals.Secondly,long-term use of ecdysterone may produce drug resistance, affecting the effect of its use. Therefore, future research should focus on the development of novel ecdysterone preparations and their mechanism of action, and improve their application effect and safety.

Conclusion:

Ecdysterone has a wide application prospect in the development of aquatic animal protection products, and it has a positive effect on the growth and health of aquatic animals. However,in the process of application, there are some problems such as difficult to master the dosage and long-term use may produce drug resistance. Therefore, future research should focus on the development of novel ecdysterone preparations and their mechanism of action, and improve their application effect and safety. At the same time, strengthening the study of its mechanism is conducive to the scientific and rational use of ecdysterone, and improve the economic benefits and food safety of aquaculture.
