Does melatonin help with sleep?

The effect was better if melatonin was taken for a longer period of time or if the dose of melatonin was increased. The overall sleep quality of patients taking melatonin improved significantly.

2.sleep rhythm disorders

A study conducted in 2002 on melatonin for jet lag regulation, conducted a randomized trial of oral melatonin for airline passengers, airline staff or military personnel, comparing the melatonin group with a placebo group. The results showed that 9 out of 10 experiments showed that bedtime (10:00 pm to 12:00 pm) in the intended area could be maintained even after the flight crew had crossed 5 or more time zones. The analysis also found doses of 0.5 to 5 mg to be equally effective, though there was just a relative difference in effectiveness. The incidence of other side effects was lower.

Of course for other sleep problems such as reduced dreaminess, wakefulness, and neurosis there are some studies that have shown melatonin to be helpful. However, in terms of principle and the progress of current research, the above two effects are more plausible.

The definition of melatonin as an ingredient is somewhere between a nutraceutical (dietary supplement) and a drug, and each country has a different policy. In the United States it is both a drug and a nutraceutical, in China it is a nutraceutical.
